3 Players to Watch this Weekend
Tons of elite talent is coming to the Arena at TD Place this weekend but here are three guys you should keep an eye out for.
Sasha Chmelevski – Ottawa 67’s
Since returning from World Juniors where he was named player of the game in the final en route to a silver medal with Team USA, Sasha has only been held off the score sheet once. The San Jose Sharks prospect has registered 12 points in his last eight games including a hat trick in Wednesday’s 7-1 route of the Kingston Frontenacs. Likely to go pro following this season, Sasha signed his ELC at the end of last season, he registered his first career goal with the San Jose Barracuda and picked up a goal for the Sharks in NHL preseason action this year.
Nate Schnaar – Guelph Storm
Despite Guelph acquiring three members of Team Canada’s World Junior Team, Nate Schnaar is the one to watch for the Storm. The Arizona Coyotes prospect recently signed his first pro contract and it is well warranted when you look at the numbers the 19 year old is putting up. Averaging an assist per game with 45 in 45, Nate has also chipped in 25 goals as well for a total of 70 points, career highs in all categories with 20+ games still left to play.
Jason Robertson – Niagara IceDogs
In his previous two seasons Jason Robertson has eclipsed the 40 goal mark and is on pace to do it again this year. Robertson has missed a little bit of action due to joining Sasha Chmelevski and Team USA at the World Juniors. Since joining Niagara Robertson has shifted more to a playmaker picking up 27 assists in only 17 games (along with 11 goals). Jason is picking up nearly two points a game averaging 1.85 game with 76 points in only 41 games (34G, 42A). A former Dallas Stars second round pick, Robertson has signed his entry-level deal with the Stars.
