67’s blanked in Erie

Despite having six powerplay opportunities, the Ottawa 67’s were unable to beat Otters’ goaltender Joseph Murdaca and were defeated 8-0 in Erie, Friday evening.

The Otters opened the scoring midway through the first and held to that 1-0 lead after 20 minutes, before displaying a six-goal effort in the second frame to eventually walk away with the two points.

It was only the second time this season that the 67’s were shut out. Olivier Lafreniere was between the pipes for the Barber Poles and he faced 24 shots. The most dangerous 67’s’ forward was Patrick White who recorded three shots on goal.

Ottawa will close out the week and its three games in three nights program Saturday in Hamilton. The 67’s will kick off a seven-game home stand against Mississauga on January 24.
