67’s hit the road for back-to-back games

After playing their last seven games in front of the home crowd at TD Place, the Ottawa 67’s are back on the road this weekend with two games in two nights, starting in Oshawa Friday against the Generals, followed by a stop in Hamilton to face the Bulldogs Saturday evening.

The Barber Poles are entering the weekend sitting in eighth place in the Eastern Conference – the last playoff spot – and are five points behind the Sudbury Wolves in sixth.

After dropping their last four decisions, Ottawa will be looking to bounce back this weekend, against two teams riding two-game winning streaks.  67’s GM and Head Coach Jeff Brown said he expects his players to work hard and focus on what they can control.

“We just have to keep working,” said Brown. “All you can control in life sometimes is how hard you work and right now we definitely need to work harder. Even if we think we work hard enough, we don’t, we need to push ourselves more and be even better.”

67’s Captain Travis Barron, who picked up three points in his last two games, insists on the importance of being better defensively and helping out the goaltenders.

“We have to think defence first and help out our goalies, doesn’t matter who we play” said Barron. “We have to do the little things that will help us win games. I’m one of the leaders of the team and I want to keep motivating the guys and lead by example.”

On Friday, the 67’s will face a red-hot Oshawa team, as the Generals are first in the Eastern Conference and have won 8 of their last 10 games, while on Saturday, the Barber Poles will square off with the Hamilton Bulldogs who are 4-6-0 in their last 10 games, but have won their last two.

Following this weekend, the 67’s will be back home for four-straight games starting February 20 when London comes to town on Family Day that will see the first 3000 fans score an Ottawa 67’s toque! There is one way to guarantee yourself a 67’s toque, everyone who uses the Shuttle service from Carleton University to TD Place will no only get a toque but you will also get one FREE popcorn!
