Double header against Generals coming up for 67’s

It will be a confident Ottawa 67’s side that will head into this weekend’s home-and-away clashes against the Oshawa Generals. The 67’s had lost three consecutive games before they delivered an impressive performance to grab a 4-3 victory over the Sarnia Sting.

This win saw the 67’s outshoot the Sting 39-30, a team that has scored 94 goals so far this season. This was another strong comeback from the 67’s. Earlier in the season, the 67’s suffered a 7-1 loss to the Sudbury Wolves. They responded by defeating the Soo Greyhounds, another top OHL side, in their next game once again highlight the team’s resiliency.

The 67’s (10-8-1-0) are third in East but are just two points off the Peterborough Petes for first place. The Barber Poles have shown strong defence when playing a man short. In their previous game they were able to shut out the dangerous Sting offence during five power plays. They are currently eighth in OHL with a penalty kill percentage of 84.2.

The Opposition

Oshawa Generals (8-8-2-0)

After a three-game winning streak, the Generals have gone on to lose their last three encounters. The first of these losses was an 8-0 loss to the Erie Otters – their biggest margin of defeat this season. A matter of concern is their shaky defence, which has conceded 16 goals in the last three games.

The 67’s have enjoyed a strong showing in the games against the Generals, having won four out of their previous five encounters. In these five games, the 67’s have also been strong on the offence, having scored 20 goals. However, the last time these two sides met, it was the Generals who emerged victorious 4-3.

Game Notes

  • Travis Barron, who recently completed 200 games for the 67’s, leads the team in points with 16.
  • Mathieu Foget has scored two points apiece in the last two games.
  • Sasha Chmelevski with 10 goals tops the chart for the 67’s.
  • Olivier Trembley is 6-2-1 between the pipes for the Barber Poles this season
