HEO Volunteer of the Week | Darren McMann

Every week the Ottawa 67’s and HEO recognize one of the many unsung hockey heroes integral to our local community with the HEO Volunteer of the Week. This week’s honouree is Darren McMann of the Nepean Minor Hockey Association (NMHA).

Darren’s involvement with NMHA began in 1989. He was the coach and assistant coach for competitive teams from Novice to Bantam AA as a non-parent volunteer.  After a short break when his three children were young, Darren once again began volunteering with the NMHA as well NGHA and NKB.

Since 1989 he has been on the bench of 9 competitive teams, 5 house league teams, 4 NCSSAA  and 106 Initiation Program teams.

As a high school teacher, Darren’s passion is helping kids discover new skills, making new friends and the pride that comes from being involved in a team.
