HEO Volunteer of the Week | Lori Sample

Every week the Ottawa 67’s and HEO recognize one of the many unsung hockey heroes integral to our local community with the HEO Volunteer of the Week. This week’s honouree is Lori Sample of the Richmond Munster Minor Hockey Association (RMMHA).

Lori holds the position of Director of Tournaments, and in this capacity, she has reinvigorated all of RMMHA tournaments, ensuring that tournaments are offered at every level where Richmond field teams. She did this not to benefit the association so much (as tournaments do generate revenue) but, rather too ensure that every child registered to play hockey in the RMMHA had an opportunity to participate in a home tournament.

Lori’s impact is not limited to tournaments. Every year, Lori volunteers her time in a management capacity of the individual teams her children play on. Additionally, this past year she coordinated the training of some of the Richmond’s youth so that they could work as time keepers throughout RMMHA area rinks. This allowed the kids to earn not only a small income, but also valuable lessons like responsibility and professionalism.

Finally, she is always willing to lend a hand when RMMHA hosts community events such as parade floats, community breakfasts, fundraisers etc.

Lori is an incredibly deserving volunteer.
