HEO Volunteer of the Week | Scott Skemer

Every week the Ottawa 67’s and HEO recognize one of the many unsung hockey heroes integral to our local community with the HEO Volunteer of the Week. This week’s honouree is Scott Skemer of the Nepean Minor Hockey Association.

Scott Skemer is the Head Coach of the House Midget A Gladiators and the House Peewee B Knights.

For 18 years, Scott Skemer has been a volunteer for NMHA, as well as other associations in Nepean such as: Barrhaven Children’s Softball, OSU, Myers touch football and South-Nepean Baseball .

In the past five years, he has lead a team of volunteers to maintain the community rink at Clark Park.  Over the years, he has coached, managed and/or been a trainer for up to four teams at a time!

Scott also created the Knights’ Mini-Invitational to provide a fun, inexpensive tournament for 8-10 young NMHA teams each year.  As a husband, and the father of six children, he still finds time to build team spirit, nurture the confidence of the boys and girls on the ice and encourage and model good sportsmanship and conduct.
