By a vote of 10-1, the City of Ottawa’s Finance and Economic Development Committee (FEDCO) today voted in favor of the Lansdowne Park redevelopment plan.  The plan will go to full City Council for a final approval vote next Wednesday.

Today’s vote was preceded by several hours of presentations from opponents and proponents of the project, including Canadian Football League Commissioner Mark Cohon. The lone dissenting vote from FEDCO members was cast by Councilor Dianne Deans, who represents Gloucester Southgate Ward.

The endorsement by FEDCO keeps the Lansdowne project on-track for a 2014 kick-off for Ottawa’s new CFL football team and NASL Soccer team, as well as the return of the 67’s to their traditional home in a refurbished Civic Centre.
