Friday evening the Ottawa 67’s are set to host the Oshawa Generals in a historic game for the franchise. The team will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first ever game played in TD Place (then Civic Centre). Here are the top five reasons you need to attend this historic game.
- Anniversary of the Inaugural Game
This game will be played exactly 50 years to the date of the first ever hockey played at TD Place (Civic Centre). 50 years prior the Ottawa 67’s hosted the Montreal Jr. Canadiens to a full house of ecstatic Ottawa fans.
- Special Edition 67’s Jersey
The 67’s will be throwing it back with special jersey that will replicate those worn in their game 50 years prior. Over time the 67’s Barber Pole jersey has become an iconic one in hockey history so come and see a jersey that pays homage to the one that started it all.
- Former Players in Attendance
The Ottawa 67’s will be releasing a list of the Top 50 players in franchise history. 10 of those players will be in attendance at Friday’s game to be honoured during the pregame ceremony so make sure you’re in your seats at least 5 minutes early for the ceremony!
- Free Cupcakes!
After all it is our birthday. We will have free celebratory cupcakes for everyone in attendance!
- Players to Watch
Sasha Chmelevski – The 67’s leading scorer has played his best hockey of the year against the Generals averaging nearly two points per game against Oshawa.
Kevin Bahl – The 67’s defenceman was recently named to January’s CHL/NHL Top Prospect game, the projected second round pick in the upcoming NHL draft is tough to miss at 6’6”.
