67’s To Donate 50% of Gate to René Faucher Fund
|
The Ottawa 67's Hockey Club today announced a fundraising initiative for René Faucher, the 40-year old Ottawa man who was paralyzed in a pick-up hockey game in mid-January. The 67’s will donate 50% of revenue from this week’s online and box office ticket sales to a fund that was established in Faucher’s name to support his rehabilitation and living expenses for his wife and three children.
“René’s accident was a terrible tragedy that could have happened to any of us,” said 67’s owner Jeff Hunt. “His skate got caught in a rut and he fell headfirst into the boards. Now, he’s paralyzed from the chest down with at least a year of rehab in the hospital and no long-term disability insurance to help his family get through their nightmare. I know our community will rally to support René, his wife Dianne Douglas and their three children.”
67’s fans who wish to support the Faucher Douglas Trust Fund by attending this Sunday’s game between the 67’s and Guelph Storm can do so by visiting www.Ottawa67s.com and clicking on the René Faucher Fundraising icon. Those who prefer telephone orders for tickets can call 613.232.6767, and fans also have the option of visiting the 67’s box office in the Coliseum Building at Lansdowne Park or at the Urbandale Centre box office on game day.
