Assistant General Manager
Jan Egert joined the Ottawa 67’s following an impressive 2016/2017 campaign with the rival Mississauga Steelheads, where as Assistant General Manager and Head Scout he helped lead the team to an Eastern Conference Title and appearance in the OHL Finals. The Swiss-born manager, known for his exceptional ability to evaluate talent, signed with the Barber Poles as Assistant General Manager prior to the beginning of the franchise’s 2017/2018 50th Anniversary season.
Egert’s role in major junior hockey began just ahead of the 2011/2012 campaign, when he joined then General Manager James Boyd and the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors as Video Coach and Scouting Coordinator. Following four successful campaigns in the role, Egert was promoted to Assistant General Manager for the 2015/2016 season, and in the following year assumed the role of Head Scout as well. Egert’s talents have led him to the National Hockey League level as well, where he spent 2 years working as a Coordinator for Central Scouting.
Egert boasts an impressive International résumé as well, having served his native Switzerland as Video Coach for each of the past three IIHF World Junior Championships.
