Teammates clash in World Juniors pre-tournament matchup

If you can’t make it down to TD Place to see the 67’s take on Kingston in their final game before the holiday break, check out Travis Konecny and Stepan Falkovsky in a World Juniors pre-tournament game.

Konecny and Team Canada are set to face Falkovsky and his squad from Belarus on Saturday at noon on TSN.

The duo of Barber Poles will match up against one another for the first time ever. Though Falkovsky is already guaranteed a spot on the Belarusian roster, Konecny is still in competition for his place on Team Canada.

Canada’s head coach Dave Lowry, an Ottawa-native and former teammate of 67’s head coach/GM Jeff Brown, will release two forwards and two defencemen before finalizing his team next week.

Team Canada has two more pre-tournament contests after their meeting with Belarus, they’ll face the Czech Republic at 10 a.m. on Sunday, December 20 and Team Sweden at noon on Wednesday, December 23.

In their first preliminary round, they’ll face bitter rivals, USA, on Boxing Day (Saturday, December 26) at 1 p.m.

A complete schedule of tournament can be found here. Watch all of Team Canada’s tournament games on TSN or listen on TSN 1200.
