The Ottawa 67’s saw their six-game winning streak come to an end on Friday night, after a very heated battle that resulted in a 3-2 win for the visiting Oshawa Generals in front of 4,259 fans inside The Arena at TD Place.  Alec Belanger and Austen Keating were the goal scorers for Ottawa in the effort.
Belanger scored the game’s first goal eight minutes into the opening frame thanks to a perfect shot that he picked the top corner on.  Oshawa’s Brett Neumann tied things up with a precise shot of his own moments before the end of the first.
Oshawa’s Serron Noel gave his team their first lead of the hockey game with a power play goal early in the second, which would be the period’s only goal, making things 2-1 in favour of the visitors ahead of the third and final frame.
Oshawa’s lead would only last about five minutes into the third period, as the Barber Poles tied things up at 5:26 of the third thanks to a goal coming from Austen Keating, who was working in his office right in front of the net in order to bang in a loose puck.  The game ended on a controversial note, as 67’s defenseman Noel Hoefenmayer appeared to be tripped during the final minute of play when he was retrieving the puck in his zone.  His fall gave an opportunity to the Generals, who capitalized thanks to a Brett Neumann goal that would give his team the win.
The 67’s will return to action as soon as Sunday afternoon, as they travel to Peterborough to take on the Petes at 2:05 PM.  The Barber Poles’ next home game will be on Thursday, November 21st, as they host their School Day Game at 10:30 AM against the Sudbury Wolves.

Head Coach André Tourigny
“We played really well, we battled against a team who has a lot of experience while we have a ton of injured players.  We played really well and I’m proud of our team.”
“We did a lot of positive things in that game, I think Oshawa took the momentum halfway into the first, but we bounced back and battled, they’re not an easy team to play against, there’s a reason that they’re first in the league before the game and I’m really proud of the way we played.”
D Noel Hoefenmayer
“I think that we always have a good rivalry with them, all my five years I’ve been here we’ve been battling against Oshawa.  I’m excited to play against them again, they’re a good team and it brings a challenge to our team.”
