67’s Max Donoso and Collin MacKenzie win Dave Pinkney Trophy
The Ontario Hockey League announced, today, that Ottawa 67’s goaltenders Max Donoso and Collin MacKenzie have been named the 2022-23 Dave Pinkney Trophy winners, as the tandem from the team that allows the fewest goals against during the regular season.
“Max and Collin have provided our club with consistent, solid goaltending throughout the season,” said 67’s General Manager James Boyd. “They have a been a key factor in our team’s success in 2022-23.”
Donoso, 19, and MacKenzie, 18, combined to help the 67’s to a franchise record 51 wins, this season, securing 30, and 21 victories, respectively, allowing just 171 goals altogether. A product of Windsor, Ontario, Donoso appeared in 47 games, with a goals against average of 2.72, and .898 save percentage. MacKenzie, hailing from Elora, Ontario, posted a 1.88 goals against average, and .928 save percentage.
MacKenzie finished roughly 80 minutes shy of meeting the eligibility criteria to set new franchise records for goals against average, and save percentage, with numbers that would have been among the league’s best.
“Max and Collin have worked very hard this season. The bar was set high at the beginning of the year, and both stuck to the plan all season,” added 67’s Goaltending Coach Andrew Mercer. “Max and Collin have grown into great friends that support, and push each other to reach their personal goals, collectively.”
This marks the third time in the last four seasons, and eighth in franchise history, that the Pinkney Trophy has gone to Ottawa. The Barber Poles most recently took home the award in 2019-20, thanks to the tandem of Cedrick Andree, and Will Cranley, but also won it the year prior, backstopped by Andree, and Michael DiPietro.
The Hamilton Spectator Trophy-winning 67’s will open Round 1 of the OHL Playoffs on Thursday night, when they take on the Oshawa Generals at 7:00pm, from Gatineau’s Slush Puppie Centre.

C’est la troisième fois au cours des quatre dernières saisons, et la huitième dans l’histoire de la franchise, que le trophée Pinkney est remis à Ottawa. Les 67’s ont récemment remporté le prix en 2019-2020, grâce au tandem de Cedrick Andree et Will Cranley, mais l’ont également remporté l’année précédente, soutenu par Andree et Michael DiPietro.
Les 67’s, vainqueurs du trophée Hamilton Spectator, amorceront la ronde 1 des séries éliminatoires de l’OHL jeudi soir, alors qu’ils affronteront les Generals d’Oshawa à 19h00, au Centre Slush Puppie à Gatineau.
