The Ottawa 67’s jumped out to an early lead in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series against Mississauga, but the Steelheads battled back to take the opening game 6-2.
In their first game of the best-of-seven series on the road, the 67’s took a 1-0 lead seven minutes into the first period as Sasha Chmelevski scored to give the home team the early lead.
But it was the Steelheads who took control after that, scoring four-straight goals before Ottawa’s Zack Dorval added his first of the post-season late in the second period to make the score 4-2 Missssauga. The Steelheads added a pair of insurance goals in the third period.
The 67’s and Steelheads return to action for Game 2 in Mississauga on Sunday at 2 p.m. Games 3 and 4 are set for Tuesday and Thursday at the Arena at TD Place. Both games start at 7 p.m.
