The Ottawa 67’s fell at the hands of Quebec Major Junior Hockey League rival Gatineau Olympiques, by a score of 6-1, on Saturday evening.
Gatineau found themselves out front early in the contest, leading 2-0 just over five minutes in, thanks to markers from Cole Cormier, and Tristan Luneau. Brad Gardiner responded, netting his first goal of the preseason for the Barber Poles, making it 2-1 with six minutes to play in the first frame.
That was as close as the 67’s would get, however. Gatineau rolled on, scoring four more goals courtesy of Luneau once again, Marcel Marcel, Charles Pilote, and Isaac Belliveau.
Max Donoso and Collin MacKenzie both saw action in the 67’s third preseason game, with Donoso starting the game, turning aside 14 of the 17 shots he faced, and MacKenzie closing out the night.
- Teddy Sawyer registered his first point of the preseason, in his first game, assisting on Gardiner’s first-period goal.
- The 67’s outshot the Olympiques 30-28.
- With one goal and two assists in the preseason, Brad Gardiner has scored three points in four games in the exhibition season.
Up Next: The 67’s head to the Pembroke Memorial Centre for their penultimate preseason date against the North Bay Battalion, on Saturday, September 24th.
