Jack Dever Caps Off 16th Birthday by Committing to 67’s

It was certainly a happy birthday for Jack Dever.

This year’s Ottawa 67’s fourth-round pick, who turned 16 today, officially committed to the Barber Poles today, following a standout performance in this year’s training camp scrimmages.

“Jack Dever is a high-energy player who works well in both ends of the ice, and demonstrates quick decision-making skills,” Barber Poles general manager James Boyd said, “We’re very pleased to welcome him to the Ottawa 67’s.”

A native of Belleville, Ontario, Dever was selected 68th overall by the Barber Poles in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection. Dever arrives in the nation’s capital by way of the Quinte Red Devils AAA program, where he served as captain. The skilled young centre was a key player on a talented Red Devils team, that saw an additional six players taken in this year’s draft, including Ethan Quick, who was also selected by the 67’s.

Dever, whose two-way ability earned high praise from scouts, appeared as a member of Team White during the 67’s training camp scrimmages. He stood out for his tenacity on the forecheck and causing constant headaches for opposing defenders and netminders.

As the Barber Poles’ 2021-22 roster begins to take shape, the team rolls into Peterborough for their first preseason action, against the Petes on Monday. It will be the first 67’s game since March 10, 2020, and the first of six exhibition games, before the regular season opens on October 8, in Kingston.

Puck drop for this exciting Labour Day contest is set for 2pm EDT, and 67’s fans can listen live on Ottawa radio TSN 1200, while also following the 67’s social media channels for live updates.
