Meet Bryce Desrochers. An Ottawa teen who LOVES all sports and whom the we had the pleasure to meet and have out to our 8-1 win versus Hamilton last Friday night.
Bryce has cerebral palsy, but that does not affect his #NoQuit attitude. He plays sledge hockey and embodies the team mantra on and off the ice.
Prior to the game, the team invited Bryce, his parents Michelle and Rolly and his best friend Max down for a special pre-game experience. The Desrochers were given a tour of TD Place and along the Brian Kilrea Wall of Honour Bryce was quick to point out images of some of his favourite former 67’s such as Cody Ceci, Tyler Tofoli and more.
Then Bryce traveled down to ice level where he and his family watched warm-ups from behind the glass. As the team came off the ice, forward Mitch Hoelscher surprised Bryce with a game worn, autographed 67’s jersey. With Bryce being a huge REDBLACKS fan as well, Mitch made sure it was the special edition RNation jersey.
Afterwards, Bryce was invited into the locker room to announce the starting lineup just before opening puck drop. As he called out the names, the entire team gave him a rousing cheer. On the way out onto the ice, all the players gave him fist bumps as well.
Guess it turns out that Bryce is certainly a good luck charm as the 67’s played a great game and lit the lamp several times on Friday.
