The Ottawa 67’s first round selection in the OHL Import Draft (16 overall) has only registered two points so far this season. However, the 16 year old Russian has tons of potential. Okhotyuk is currently listed as one of the Top 25 prospects for the 2019 NHL draft by eliteprospects.com. Nikita also has tons of experience at the international level playing on U16, U17 and U18 tournaments for the Russian national team. The 2000 skater, was the youngest player on the Russian team at the World Junior A Challenge. Okhoytuk’s lack of a point production this season should not a concern for fans as he is still adjusting to life and hockey in North America. Despite that, definitely keep your eye on Okhotyuk this weekend, he has the tools and his potential is evident.
The only 67’s defenceman with a positive plus-minus has been impressing since his return from an injury that kept him off of the ice for the first 11 games of the year. The smooth skating, offensive defenceman has one goal and three assists in his first eight games this year. The projected, mid round pick in this year’s NHL draft has the potential to move up in the rankings and is definitely a player to watch this weekend.
The Oshawa Generals leading scorer has asserted himself as a playmaker this season. The draft eligible centreman is averaging more than a point per game this season with 16 assists and three goals so far this year. The 17 year old is on the radar of many NHL teams, projected to be a first round pick in the upcoming NHL draft and he should be on your radar coming in to Friday’s contest.
