When last they met, these two East Division rivals faced-off at the Arena at TD Place, with the home team claiming a 4-2 victory.
67’s netminder Liam Herbst was the star of that game, stopping 25 of the 27 shots he faced. Forward Artur Tyanulin also added two goals, including the game winner late in the second period.
Ottawa is back at TD Place to host those same Generals at 7 p.m. tonight. Great seats are still available here or by calling 613-232-6767 x1.
Since falling to Ottawa on October 16, the Generals lost three of their next four games, but scored two goals in the third period and one in OT to defeat the Peterborough Petes last night. Matt Mistele, one of Oshawa’s leading scorers, notched the game winner on a penalty shot, his second of the night. Look for the Generals to be playing with a lot of confidence after that big win over the Petes.
Ottawa, on the other hand, struggled to find their game against the Mississauga Steelheads on Wednesday night and fell 5-2 to the Fish. 67’s GM/head coach Jeff Brown described the team’s play as “pond hockey” and still believes they need to find their identity as a group.
One bright spot from that game was goaltender Leo Lazarev. Though he allowed five goals, three of those were shots he couldn’t see or had no chance to stop, as the Steelheads were all over the 67’s in the third period. Newly acquired forward Drake Rymsha also scored his first goal as a 67.
Tonight also marks the 67’s Prospects Game.
