The 67’s welcome the Niagara Ice Dogs to town tonight for the 2nd and final time this season, coming off a heartbreaker loss in Belleville on Wednesday night. Ottawa stormed back from a 2 goal deficit in the 3rd period to tie it before Remi Elie scored with just over a minute left in regulation making the final 5-4 Bulls.
Niagara Ice Dogs
The Ice Dogs currently sit 9th in the Eastern Conference but have been playing 500 hockey in their last ten and their lineup has undergone a bit of a transformation recently. Veterans Luke Mercer and Brandon Perlini are back from injury list and Islander’s 1st rounder Joshua Ho-Sang came over in a trade with Windsor last month. The Ice Dogs are lead in scoring by Maple Leafs 3rd rounder Carter Verhaeghe. Niagara currently sits 20th on the Power Play and 4th on the Penalty Kill.
Sunday’s meeting will be the 3rd of 4 between the Colts and 67’s. The season series is currently tied with both teams claiming victories on home ice. The 67’s won the last game in front of over 16,000 school kids at the CTC. The Colts have 3 of the top 20 scorers in the league with former 67 Joseph Blandisi leading their scorers with 17 goals and 24 points. Barrie currently sits 4th on the Power Play and 17th on the Penalty Kill.
